Why
buy a house in Crete?
Many have chosen to fulfill their dream of a house in
the Mediterranean region,
by buying a property in Crete.
The reason is that both the price, property and construction standard have been relatively high. During the last two years prices has dropped by 30 % to 40 % on most of the sales object in Crete.
We in Kretaestate feel that now is the right time to buy, even if there are a lot of problems in the Greek economy. As long as you do not take any loan in Greece, it will not be any problem of buying a property here. We strongly advice against taking any loan in Greece today, with mortgage given on your property.
Since the Greek authorities are very restrictive in giving out many new license for properties to the foreign marked, the prices are kept on a stable level.
Other issues we feel is positive for a house buyer in Crete to know are:
- The authorities do not allowed building a higher house then 7.5 meter, outside town areas.
- The building factors outside towns are relative low, to prohibit not covering the whole property with buildings.
- Due to low construction rate of holiday houses, we think that the prices will be kept high, in the years to come.
- The criminality rates in Crete, is very low. You can still sleep with your windows open.
